Kyuhyun : Hello, I'm Super Junior Kyuhyun. Bugs was a good searching site to me since when I went to school, so I'm very grateful to be able to give my greeting through Bugs.

Bugs : Last year Super Junior got the daesang award at Golden Disk. Although it's late, congratulations. How was your feeling then?
Kyuhyun : That was our first time getting the deasang award at Golden Disk, while if you look at history those who got that award were all great sunbae singers. But having that award was like a dream to us, I couldn't sleep that night.

Bugs : What did the members tell each other after the ceremony?
Kyuhyun : We said "Iya~ Now we are daesang (great) singers!" and everybody liked it. (laugh)

Bugs : It's a pity that you didn't have time for the speech when accepting the award because Super Junior have so many members, was there anything you wanted to say but couldn't?
Kyuhyun : I always thought that I'm Super Junior's magnae so I can't do the speech when accepting awards. Therefore, I didn't prepare a speech of my own....it's just that I won't do it (laugh) but our leader Teukie hyung has given a good speech because he knows everything. I will save mine for later if I am given another chance to talk at an award ceremony.

Bugs : You have wrapped up your last year very well, and you've come back to the fans this year with drama <Pasta> OST "Listen...to you". Do you enjoy watching "Pasta"?
Kyuhyun : Yes, I'm watching the drama because I'm interested in it. Especially Lee Sungyun, he's very impressive.

Bugs : It's a drama about food, is Kyuhyun good at making food?
Kyuhyun : I'm famous with my Hankang ramen among the members. I got that nickname because we live in a dorm and when I first joined in, I had to cook ramen because I'm the magnae but I couldn't find the correct amount of water. After then no member told me to go cook ramen again. There's also an anecdote. I wanted to eat fried ham so I asked Ryeowook who is very good at making food how to do and he said I should use oil to fry. But I got to know later that the oil I used was sesame oil, after that no one told me to make food again as well (laugh).
Bugs : So which food are you confident in making?
Kyuhyun : I'm good at making bibimbap haha.

Bugs : This time I will ask you about the song. Can you tell us the story about how got to sing drama <Pasta> OST "Listen..to you"?
Kyuhyun : At first I only knew that I would record a song for a drama's OST, then I got to know that the drama is <Pasta> and my song is quite important in the drama. I felt excited and nervous at the same time when I began to record the song. I really like the song's sweet melody. Although the lyrics sounds a little bit embarrassing, I tried my best to follow the direction from the music composer to sing the song like a sweet whisper in the girls' ears.

Bugs : Recently the competition between the OSTs is also intense. Can you point out some charm of OST?
Kyuhyun : OSTs absolutely have their own charm. Actually, there are times that you don't feel anything when you just listen to a song, but together with the video/image of movie, drama, you get affected by it.
Bugs : Recently which drama do you enjoy watching?
Kyuhyun : Pasta haha.

Bugs : Can we see Kyuhyun perform "Listen...to you" on music shows?
Kyuhyun : Only if people give the song a lot of love, then I can directly make a suggestion at the office. "I want to perform once because people love it that much!" even if I can try to say it, it's a no for now. Although I don't have detailed plan yet, I will work harder to show a good image when there is a chance to.

Bugs : How was Super Junior's reaction when the song came out?
Kyuhyun : Instead of feeling excited and glad, they didn't directly say anything to me, but they still contacted me though. "The song is good", "it's not that bad!"...I thanked them for their positive reaction and support.

Bugs : Which member gave you the biggest support?
Kyuhyun : All the members gave me their support. Instead of being able to say who gave me the biggest support, I can say Shindong hyung is the first member who showed me a reaction. He enjoyed listening to the song so much that he was the very first one who called me.

Bugs : You sang the song "7 years' love" in the 20th anniversary album of Yoo Youngseok-sshi, how did you get that chance?
Kyuhyun : I haven't said it before yet, but I will tell Bugs about it (laugh). Yoo Youngseok sunbaenim had been worrying a lot about whether he should work with an idol singer in his anniversary album. But at that time, there was a song called "Shining Star" in our 3rd album that was written by him. When recording that song, Yoo Youngseok sunbaenim showed that he liked me so much and he praised me a lot. He always said "You're a genius ! Why have you been hiding until now?" whenever I sang the song (^^). And I worked with him separately later on because of the song, and by chance the anniversary album began getting in the works, so I got to sing the song "7 years' love".

Bugs : Was there any difficulty when you worked with Yoo Youngseok-sshi?
Kyuhyun : Since sunbaenim has a young soul and he shared a lot of things with me, we got along quite well. If I have anything to ask, he will give me a lot of advice. That was quite a meaningful time to me.

Bugs : Not long ago Bugs had an interview with Yoo Youngseok. He praised Kyuhyun-sshi very truthfully then, how do you feel about it?
Kyuhyun : hahaha, I feel really strange. I'm not good at getting complimented. But usually when a great sunbaenim praises me so much, although it's awkward I feel very happy.

Bugs : So are you somehow close with Yoo Youngseok-sshi?
Kyuhyun : I think so, too. I just hope that sunbaenim will have the same thought as me.

Bugs : How do you get the <7 years' love>'s emotion to express when you sing that song?
Kyuhyun : Since I don't have a 7 years long love experience, it was quite hard for me the first time I recorded the song. I said this in another interview, that my recording always got interrupted. It's because I didn't have that particular emotion, and I didn't understand the lyrics about a person's lost and gain. So I stopped the recording and went to ask sunbaenim why the lyrics were like this; he kindly spent 10 minutes explaining it for me. After hearing that story, I had an idea about the song and was able to express it. It was a good experience to me.

Bugs : Do you feel a lot of difference between performing solo on stage and performing with the group?
Kyuhyun : It's little more difficult. When recording Super Junior albums, whenever there's a difficult thing, I can talk to the other members and share it with them. But when I'm recording a solo song, the difficult thing is that I have to cope with all the song alone and I don't have much experience.
Bugs : But is there any good point about it?
Kyuhyun : The good point is that I like it when my voice is continuously coming out (laugh)

Bugs : Listening to Kyuhyun-sshi's voice I can feel that it's a little different from the other members of Super Junior and you're the only one who has that voice. Do you have any song which you really like that you thought about it like "This song is divided into parts and I sing it with the members, but I want to sing it alone..."?
Kyuhyun : Yes, there is. We got a song called "Disco Drive" from Yoon Jongshin sunbaenim for our 2nd album. Actually I had been liking that song since we got the demo version. And recently we sang a song called "Shining Star" from Yoo Youngseok sunbaenim at the Super Show concerts, I also like that song very much. If I have the chance to, I want to sing those 2 songs alone, and I often sing them too when I go to the noraebang.

Bugs : Do you have any plans to release a Kyuhyun solo album in the future?
Kyuhyun : If I say I don't want that it would be a lie. But right now I just want to concentrate on doing group activities. And if there is a chance, I will think about it. This time with <Pasta> OST, there was another chance for me, so I did all my best. But I really don't have plans for solo activities right now, I still think that team activities should be put above all.

Bugs : Which style of music do you want to do in the future?
Kyuhyun : The music I like and often listen to is ballads, so I want to focus on that style of music. Right now the 'dance singer' image is very popular, so my group's music has to match that. But in the future I want to sing ballads if I have the chance. And I think I won't choose dance music if I go solo (laugh)

Bugs : So what is your favorite song recently?
Kyuhyun : Ah, recently I enjoy listening to Brown Eyed Soul's "폭풍의 주" (The Lord in the storm)

Bugs : Which singer is your role model?
Kyuhyun : I like Sung Shikyung sunbaenim and Kim Dongryul sunbaenim. Actually there are many sunbae singers that I admire but If I have to choose, I want to be like these two. I like all their songs.

Bugs : Is there any field that you want to challenge yourself or feel interested in: acting, variety, MC....if not have you ever thought of continuing your studies?
Kyuhyun : I don't want to continue to study (laugh). Uhm, every member is good in a particular field, but I haven't known which way I should choose yet. I'm interested in too many things...
Bugs : Which members - when you see them on a show - you feel quite envious of, but you think that shows are not easy to do?
Kyuhyun : Ah, I really enjoy watching "Strong heart" and Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Shindong are very funny. Although I can't be funny like them, I really want to try to appear on a show like that once a year. And although I always feel I lack acting skills when I see the other members, I want to try it some time too. But that is for future plans, right now I just want to focus on music and get recognized in the music field.

Bugs : If you have a chance to do a duet song, which singer will you choose to sing with you?
Kyuhyun : Can I choose an idol singer ?

Kyuhyun : I want to sing with SNSD Taeyeon and Jessica. Those two are very good at singing. But the company won't give me that chance, haha.

Bugs : In the music field, which image do you want people to remember about Super Junior Kyuhyun?
Kyuhyun : A person who really loves singing, loves the fans, and I hope people will remember me as a person who loves music.

Kyuhyun's like this too. Many people remember that he sang "Not Letting My Tears Accompany Through the Night," this is an old song by Chinese singer Qi Qin. It took Kyuhyun a lot of effort to learn this song. Qi Qin's CD was given to Kyuhyun by a fan. SUPER JUNIOR's KyuHyun, emitting the scent of a man

KyuHyun who left the 13 member Super Junior temporarily due to the April's car accident met us through <S>.

Maybe because he experienced something normal people would never had gone through in their lives, his youngster feeling has totally gone, and he came back with a manly feeling.

KyuHyun The First Story

"Prepared because of today"

SJ members KyuHyun, Eeteuk, EunHyuk and ShinDong suffered serious and minor injuries during the car accident in April. Then the other three members except KyuHyun returned to the group respectively, but KyuHyun who was injured the most seriously still accepted medical care from the hospital until recently, and he still had to conduct recovery exercise after he discharged, so official schedules had not started yet.

Because of this, Super Junior's fans missed KyuHyun more and more. Maybe because of the fans' missing touched KyuHyun, he has started to do his recovery exercise more seriously and recovered slowly recently, and even participated in Super Junior's 2nd album's recording.

KyuHyun who arrived at the working office for <S>'s 1st meeting let the staff gape at him, because he who we hadn't seen for a long time had arrived with dyed beautiful golden hair. The SJ members who started the work on the 2nd album, had received a lot of attention about their new image, but the problem is that no staff had expected KyuHyun to appear with such an image. Golden hair while wearing a suit made all the staff nervous. But then, KyuHyun who appeared after changing into the 1st set of clothes let everyone's worries disappear. It seems like the golden hair and the clothes that were prepared today matched perfectly. Also, the hairstyle and the suit are very suitable for expressing the more mature KyuHyun's image after the accident. Regarding to this, the staff praised him, "The hairstyle and the clothes matched very well.", while KyuHyun replied, "I prepared for today". KyuHyun"s talent allowed the shooting to be carried out very smoothly.


"The sweet date in the lift"

Because KyuHyun's body is not 100% recovered yet, so he need to use the lift to move around the underground 1st floor's fashion room and the underground 2nd floor's shooting room.


Because he had to change a total of 7 sets of clothes, so climbing the stairs will be bad to his body. The shooting took about 3 hours, KyuHyun's interview took place in the lift. Although the scenario now is different from the scenario of being trapped inside the lift with another person that I* imagined when I was young, not 2 person, but interviewing KyuHyun in such a small space and close together, is a very new try.

<S> Fans are very worried about you, how is your health status now?
<KyuHyun> Because I want to meet the fans earlier on stage, I worked very hard during the recovery exercise, hoping to stand on stage and meet the fans.

<KyuHyun> Finished the recording of Super Junior's 2nd album recently, so it was a little difficult in the beginning, because I had not been singing for 3 months, the vital capacity and feelings returned to square one, so I practiced extra hard, and finally finished the recording smoothly.
<S> The time to interact with family increased while the time to interact with fans decreased right? The web exposed the pictures of you and your family in Cheju island, also spent time with friends right?
<KyuHyun> Went with family members to Cheju island, because we hadn't went for vacation together for a long time, so I'm very happy this time. At first also thought of going to a vacation with friends, but my body condition doesn't allow me to do so, so we just met up nearby frequently

When Kyu Hyun joined Super Junior on May of 2006, he was set to live in the Suju dorm with the rest of the guys. I don't know when exactly he moved there but when he did, he was assigned to room in with DongHae and Sungmin but unfortunately, without a bed of his own.

Not alot of people knew of this arrangement (Bedless Kyu Hyun) until January 9th of 2007, about 8 months after he joined Super Junior, when he guested together with roomie Sungmin in Kangin's Chunji Radio show. Here is how the 'Bedless Kyu Hyun conversation' went:

When I read about this I was like shocked because it's been too long since he has joined Suju and still he has no bed?? I started to get more curious than ever so I looked for more translations about Bedless Kyu (actually this is how my backreading in Soompi started hahaha). It turns out, after that broadcast, the fans became more and more curious of Kyu Hyun. Moreso because the day after, January 10th, 2007, during Kyu Hyun and Sungmin's guesting this time on Eunhyuk and Eeteuk's SUKIRA (Super Junior Kiss the Radio), the guys were still talking about Kyu's bedlessness and then Kyu Hyun debuted his 'Bed Song CF' to the tune of Super Junior's Believe. And LOL he really came prepared.  I was ecstatic when I found the video for the broadcast so I uploaded it here, for you to watch.

See how Sungmin was giggling as Kyu was singing so seriously about his non-existent bed? After that, the fans grew more and more interested in Kyu Hyun saying they all thought was this shy, boring kid but then he's surprising them with his wit and funny antics as time goes by. He even composed his bed song, for heaven sake.

See how everything went too far? The bed situation really created a buzz amongst the SuJu fans that January. They were talking about it for ages. And most of them wanted to give him a bed for his birthday (February 3rd). LOL.

With all this Bedless Kyu Hyun craziness, lots of fans wanted to get him a bed, especially because his birthday was coming up. But then again, he wasn't bedless because they didn't have the money to buy a bed (duh hehe) but because the Super Junior dorm had no space to accomodate another bed. There were 9 members + 2 managers living together in the 4-bedroom dorm (info credit to damifino @ soompi).

After this I don't remember reading any updates on Kyu's bedlessness until after his birthday, when it was confirmed that he finally has a bed. He got it on the same month, January. Maybe because of all the buzz, the managers decided to buy him a bed already.  It was put between Teukie's and Ryeowook's beds because there probably no space at Donghae and Sungmin's room but judging from the photo below, you'll see how they barely made the new bed fit in Teukie's and Wookie's room. hahaha.

I don't know the exact date when he posted this pic at the Sukira website for his fans to see his new bed. Look at that dork, he's sprawled all over the place. hahaha. After months and months of being bedless and complaining about backaches (LOL), he finally got his wish.

Epilogue: A few months after, the lease of their old dorm has ended and the boys moved into a new dorm (with fingerprint recognition locks no less) and until now, he's rooming in with Sungmin again with his good old controversial bed. He's Bedless Kyu no more.
